I'm Peter Serefine and this is the Liberty Minute for Tuesday, day 716 of "15 days to flatten the curve."
The fence around the US Capitol building has been resurrected and the NYPD is sending 100 police officers to Washington DC to help with security for tonight's State of the Union address.
The Biden administration also asked for National Guard troops for the event. Florida governor, Ron DeSantis has refused after the treatment DC gave the National Guard the last time they were at the Capitol. Remember them sleeping in a parking structure and sub-par food?
Why all this sudden concern about safety? Are the politicians actually afraid of the citizens they represent or is this just some big show? If the Democrats had put forth even a fraction of this effort last year the January 6th riot couldn't have happened.
