The $50 Water Turbine is a do-it-yourself, portable, powerful, and open-source water turbine.

A low head, medium power, ultra low cost, and low tech hydro turbine can be built for less than $50.
It can be plugged into any suitable canal and is made entirely of off-the-shelf and recycled materials, as well as simple hand tools.

From a 2 meter drop at about 50 liters per second, aim for 200 to 500 watts of power/ 5-12 kWh each day.
