So for the month of March I usually do a month long review of a style or type of beer. This year I will be doing something a bit different. Last year I read about the Paulaner monks who brewed a beer to live off of during Lent. I read the story and just loved it, and thought to myself that if they could do it so could I. So for whole month of March (maybe the full 46 days of Lent) I will be only consuming traditional beer. I will consuming at least 1 bottle of the original Dopplebock beer the monks brewed giving me the closest to the original story as possible.

Profile: " Paulaner Salvator, with its strong, typically malty flavour, is what you could call the "original" Paulaner. The bottom-fermented "Doppelbock" beer combines the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks used to drink Salvator as a food substitute during Lent. The most famous master brewer was Frater Barnabas. "
