The Awakening Potential in Trauma
The wound cuts deep and opens us to a place we were unable to see before. The trauma will often numb the pain, making it difficult to heal when we don't know what the pain is about. The wound is difficult to contact at first, so we can observe the adaptation to the wound, which shows up in the defense mechanisms in our relational dynamics with others. There's often an unconscious conflict due to the trauma, causing obstacles to connection and thriving in life. As we resolve this conflict and connect with the wound, we have the opportunity for awakening, growth and a greater sense of connection with self, others and the Divine.
