US and Romanian forces conduct joint combat drills

Armed forces of the United States and Romania conduct joint combat military drills called 'Justice Eagle' as crisis in Ukraine rumbles on.

Organisers say the biannual exercise is not related to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine - Romania’s eastern neighbour. The U.S. and Romania are both members of the NATO alliance.

“It doesn't have anything in common with the entire context that we cope with nowadays in this region. This is an exercise,” said Colonel Adrian Costaru of the Romanian Army’s 9th Infantry Brigade “the scenario, it's 100 percent fiction and it's 100 percent defensive”.
