Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, confirms that they had no experience or expertise in messenger RNA vaccines.

"In fact, mRNA was a technology that had never delivered a single product. No vaccine, no other drug. And I was surprised when they suggested that this was the way to go and I asked them to justify how can you say something like that.

But they came and they were very, very convinced that this was the right way to go.

They felt that the two years of mRNA warfare since 2018 to develop a flu vaccine made them believe that the technology was mature enough and that we were on the verge of delivering a product.

So they convinced me.

I went with my gut that they know what they were saying and we made that tough decision at that point."
