Now we get to the institutions of murder, and here I address the pure death camps in Poland, Chelmno and the three Operation Reinhard camps (Treblinka, Sobibor, Belzec), where Raul Hilberg estimated up to 1.7M jews were put to death. In all of these camps the agent of death was engine exhaust, specifically carbon monoxide, and at Chelmno the facilities were the notorious gas vans.
