Throughout the film, Russian President Vladimir Putin, former pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and former Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko, as well as American journalist Robert Parry are interviewed, mostly by Oliver Stone, about the events of recent Ukrainian history.
