• The elders didn’t just dabble in idolatry, they were
immersed in it
• The hearts of Israel were far off because of idols
• God wants to ‘seize’ their hearts back to Him

• When idolators consult false prophets for
affirmation, God Himself lets them speak deceit
• Both the prophet as well as the inquirer will bear
the same punishment
