In the Collect for the Third Sunday in Lent, we pray that our Heavenly Father would purify our disordered affections in light of his knowing that we have no rest except in him. What does all of this mean about us? How do we have no rest? Why do we have disordered affections? Father Jeremiah walks us through this prayer in the hope that we will all be drawn near to Jesus in light of the bentness within us.

The text of this prayer is:
Heavenly Father, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you: Look with compassion upon the heartfelt desires of your servants, and purify our disordered affections, that we may behold your eternal glory in the face of Christ Jesus; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
