Russian President Vladimir Putin recently issued a demand that “unfriendly” countries buy natural gas in the Russian ruble instead of dollars or euros in an attempt to undermine American dominance through the petrodollar.
The petrodollar is the system in which oil is traded on the global market in American currency. If other oil rich companies follow Russia’s lead while America and the rest of the West stupidly transition to green energy, the dollar could collapse.
