What Would Emma's Music Lessons Have Looked Like? (Emma 2020)

If you're at all familiar with either the book or one of movie adaptations of Jane Austin's "Emma" then you'd know that one of her many skills involves playing the piano and singing. But for "real people" during the late 18th and early 19th century, what would music lessons have looked like for women like Emma? In this week's video we take a closer look at women's education in Regency England, music lessons during the turn of the Classical Era to the Romantic Era, and understand why music lessons were important to so many families and their daughters.
