Marines Conduct Contested Island Exercise

October 28, 2021 - U.S. Marines with 2d Battalion, 8th Marines, conduct Contested Island Exercise on Okinawa, Japan. This exercise demonstrated the Marines’ ability to rapidly execute a wide range of missions and displayed U.S. resolve to maintain regional security in the Indo-Pacific. 2/8 is forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific under 4th Marines, 3d Marine Division.
