Today, Pastor Scott Spencer continues his study of 1 Corinthians 9 and addresses the need for self-discipline in a Christian's every day life. In the latter part of 1 Corinthians 9, Paul compares people of faith to an athlete striving to win. Paul encourages the people of Corinth not to be in competition with their fellow brothers and sisters, but to have the same commitment and dedication to Christ as that of a training athlete. As Christians, it is important to run with purpose and to focus our eyes on the Lord and the eternal prize.

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. "
