11th MEU Conducts Exercise Indigo Defender 21

October 21, 2021 - Marines and Sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock USS Portland (LPD 27) support Marines assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), during exercise Indigo Defender with Royal Saudi Naval Forces at Jazirat al Ghurab Island, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 19-21. Indigo Defender 21 is a capstone bilateral maritime exercise between Royal Saudi Naval Forces and U.S. Naval Forces Central Command to enhance interoperability and strengthen our capacity to maintain regional maritime security and stability.
