Apostles: Where are they Today?

Since very little is mentioned today concerning apostles in the modern church, is this no longer required for the edification of the body of Christ?

Some in today’s church state rather emphatically that the 5 fold ministry office of the apostle is no longer active and if it is, the individuals are misleading the church

Others maintain apostles are essential in helping build churches throughout cities, while also engaging the cultures and areas of influence throughout society

Interestingly after the original 12 was chosen by Jesus, there are many additional examples of the early church adding more some 20-30 years after the resurrection of Jesus, such as Mathias, Barnabas, Apollos and others
