Secret Afghan Way To Survive Winter (With Just Cow Dung!)( No electricity)

For generations people have survived winter with no electricity and just on cow dung for heat up in the Himalayan mountains…which provides very little heat in the extra harsh winters. Yet the people there survive…due to the warm room strategy….while they have different names for it in Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan I have witnessed and stayed with families living on a few handfuls of cow pies in sub zero temperatures.
1. Pick one room to heat.
2. Insulate the walls, ceiling, and floor with carpets and fabric.
3. Brick up or seal windows as much as possible….multiple layers of plastic and heavy curtains will work.
4. Make the door as airlock like as you can with 2-3 doors to the outside and blankets over the doors.
5. Everyone sleeps, eats, and cooks in this room.
6. Put on heavy coats before going outside to stretch out but conserve warm room heat.
7. Cook morning and evening to heat, cook, and to warm a big pot of tea.(put it into a thermos for hot tea all day long!)
