Feeding the horses on a very windy day. It's a testimony to how settled they are

Horses are more alert on windy days, as they cannot hear or smell predators as easily, so they tend to bunch up and will be more prone to panicking. It was a testimony to how well they've been managed that they were sharing their hay near a flapping tarpaulin and I felt quite relaxed and safe around them.
It's hard to hear me with the wind.

Every time I see Ruby's ribs, I cringe. It will take her a few more weeks to get the coverage she needs.
Cleo (in the background) came up for her feed after I took this. I called her up. She is older and doesn't get mixed up with the young herd around feed time.
