Paul’s Instructions Concerning Giving

2 Corinthians 8:16-9:15

Principles we see in this passage:
1. Be careful in choosing handlers of finance.

2. Careful to avoid conflict of interests.

3. Careful in accounting (“taking plans to do what is right”).

4. Give to the poor as proof of love for God.

5. Giving as part of worship.
• There should be a willingness to give.
• There should be a bountifulness to our giving
• Generosity should mark our giving

6. Giving should be viewed as ‘sowing’.
• A farmer views seeds as an investment
• It is invested to bring a return.
• Sow sparingly – reap sparingly
• Sow bountifully – reap bountifully

“He will make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” -2 Corinthians 9:8
