Did RUBS destroy the Motor Company? The Price to ride a Harley-Davidson

Thoughts of the price of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the fallacy they have forgotten their core customer.

People have always gotten it wrong when they think that owning a Harley-Davidson or motorcycling is a necessity when in fact, especially in America motorcycling has always been mainly a rich man’s hobby. The average person, the working-class person, the poor person never has been the “core” customer that Harley-Davidson Motor Company is trying to entice to purchase their products.

The average person usually does not have a year’s wages as disposable income to purchase a bagger or a Big Twin Cruiser which Harley-Davidson makes it profit from when you consider the medium income of a male 25+ High School graduate is $32,307 and females bringing in much less on average.

That said, the lifestyle Harley-Davidson is selling to those that can afford their machines new were originally created by the working-class biker of the late 40s, 50s, 60s and the 70s, those that bought used, army surplus, police surplus, and so on. A lifestyle further glamorized and manufactured by Hollywood in movies such as “The Wild One” and “Easy Rider”.

Face it for most being a “biker” is a weekend hobby, very few do it as a living.

Well anyways here are my verbal thoughts, from my experience, which does not mean much to most.
