In three separate incidents of hazing in 2009, Jasmine Johnson was punched in the head, chest and stomach; she was also kneed in the stomach and back; and had vinegar sprayed in her face.

Kristin High and Kenitha Saafir, AKA, Cal State

On September 9, 2002, around 10pm at Dockweiler State Beach in LA, police spotted at least eleven women running across the beach. They were all dressed in black running shoes, thick black sweatshirts and black jogging pants.

Four sorority pledges were blindfolded and driven to Playa del Rey, California. Once they arrived at the beach, they were led into the ocean backwards, which is a staple of West Coast pledge rituals. During the ritual, pledges walk through the waves and towards the leader who stands in the water urging them on.

The ritual is supposed to build trust between pledges and members of the sorority.
