Setting the Stage:
Russia has invaded Ukraine, the world is in chaos, and Washington’s decades-long, failed, bipartisan foreign policy consensus is to blame.

Since the end of the Cold War, American elites squandered our peace dividend and chose instead to pursue endless and aimless engagement abroad. Their failures led to costly misadventures in the Middle East, dire miscalculations in Europe, and irresponsible naïveté in East Asia. We must abandon this failed approach, generate new ideas, and identify new leaders.

Up from Chaos: Conserving American Security is a partnership between The American Conservative and American Moment to chart a path forward for conservative foreign policy in the 21st century. During this emergency conference, our organizations are partnering with prominent elected officials, scholars, and business leaders to set an agenda for a responsible American foreign policy that keeps our nation and its interests secure in a rapidly changing world.
