Description
Some bands fade when the singer walks away. Others get louder.
Savage Old Bastards rose from the ashes of American Iron — a proud, hard-driving country-rock band built on truth, tone, and grit. American Iron’s songs came from the shared pens of Aaron Iron and Tim Tobin, two friends who wrote about the working soul of America — its pride, pain, and redemption.
When Aaron left the band on good terms to follow his calling as a preacher, longtime bandmate Casey “Ol’ 88” Miller bowed out as well, choosing to pursue the traditional country roots that had always called to him. With both Aaron and Casey gone, the remaining five — guitarist-songwriter Tim Tobin, fiddler and steel player Luke McCord, bassist Jesse Ray Hollis, and drummer “Big Red” Thompson — decided the story wasn’t over.
They brought in Jack Rowe, a Nashville bar-band veteran with a voice full of gravel and fire, and renamed the band Savage Old Bastards — a title inspired by something Aaron once joked about.
With Tobin now the sole songwriter, the new material carries the bones of American Iron but with sharper teeth — heavier guitars, darker truths, and a sound that hits harder and bleeds honesty. Where American Iron sang about pride and redemption, Savage Old Bastards preaches survival and consequence.
Savage Old Bastards sound like America itself — proud, loyal, and a little rough around the edges.
