Growing up, I had 2 favourite periodicals: "Ripley's Believe It or Not" & "World Weekly News".

How I delighted in Ripley's stories of hail stones filled with living frogs, images of saints appearing in bread, alien abductions, cow mutilations, crop circles, strange rituals, ghosts & possessions, supernatural powers & perception... all these stories presented with sincerity, asking "do you Believe"?

My fave WWN article "Playful Elephant Turns on Hot Water at Zoo Cooking Family of Hippos". It does not matter if it is True, I Believe it. I Believe in the comedy, the artistry.

It is Safe to Believe. Belief in Santa Claus. Belief in 'Official Narratives'. No difference. There is refuge in Belief.

Nowadays, I recommend you don't Believe anything. If someone comes unbidden telling you about something you did not ask for information about, ask not "is what is he saying true?", ask "why does he tell me this?" & "what does he seek from me?"
