I am a professor of physics and chemistry at a small Midwestern college right in the center of the country. I am trying to bring back teaching my students only the fields that they come to learn. I don't add my own sociopolitical opinions to physics and chemistry, I just teach the physics and the chemistry. It is not my place or job to try to influence my students' sociopolitical or moral thought processes. Physics and chemistry do not require me to enter into those realms so I don't. As a podcast that I used to listen to said I try to be a "smart smart person" in that I am a physicist and a chemist so that is what I stick to. I use old school methods to teach and my students have to work hard to keep up with the load because like so many other aspects of life physics and chemistry require copious amounts of practice to learn. There is no shortcut to learning something new and gaining a new skill. I am also a research scientist trying to develop new technologies for daily life and I have to fight every day against the political climate of publishing. I fight against having to always use buzzwords such as "climate change" in my writing. My work can be rejected if I talk about a new technology or bit of knowledge being economically or industrially valuable. I have to write about how my work will help fix the buzzword issues in order to get published in many thoroughfares. I am trying to make it so that good and valuable work can be published without having to be a part of an agenda. I use Rumble to upload my lectures so that my students can access them. My semester lectures are better than my summer lectures because I get to talk to students during the semesters and in summers I am staring at a machine and talking which I find weird. As my videos go up enjoy them and I hope that you can get something out of them. I don't claim to know everything even with a Ph.D. but if you ever leave a question I will try to answer it.
