Description
Welcome to The Ameis School — School of Society. We believe education should inspire curiosity, individuality, and purpose. Unfortunately, most schools don’t teach students how to think — they teach them what to think. That’s where we come in.
We believe kids thrive when they learn what they love, and love what they learn. Traditional education often leaves out the most important parts: Purpose, curiosity, and real-world connection. We believe kids thrive when learning connects with who they are, what they care about, and the world they live in. Too often, education feels like a factory — standard, rigid, outdated. But kids aren’t standard. And neither should learning be.
For parents, educators, teachers, and schools who want to break the cycle of rigid, test-driven learning and help kids:
We design and support learning that helps students and people:
-Learn what they are passionate about
-Prepare for real life, not just tests
-Adapt, grow, and apply their skills in society
-Collaborate with teachers as partners, not passive recipients
-Learn with passion and purpose
-Think critically and independently
-Adapt and apply knowledge in the real world
-Collaborate with teachers, not just follow rules
-Parents seeking better education for their kids
-Educators designing meaningful curriculum
-Schools rethinking how to engage students
-Homeschoolers who want purpose-driven, child-led learning
School Of Society - The child first. Focusing on collaborative learning, which uses collaboration as a powerful tool to increase student motivation and participation in the learning process. Collaborative or cooperative learning aims to stimulate the reflections and critical thinking of students and share ideas with each other.
The child first – a child's potential is not measured through multiple choice tests or GPAs, but rather through a collaborative, qualitative process which involves parent, teacher and student.
No standardized tests given at the national level and no school rankings. In addition, there are no inspection procedures for learning institutions. The state fully trusts school leaders and teachers in developing their students. They also help and assist with support and funding.
Children should not be taught to memorise pieces of information and at no stage should children sit formal or national exams. 'What you learn without joy, you forget without grief' is an old Finnish saying.
There should be relatively low amount of homework. Homework should be seen more as a recap of what has been learned in the class but it is not supposed and should take a hours of time at home. Usually students should finish the rest of the assignments that was covered during the lesson and read through the next chapter.
