Tyrants Surround Me. Go Hands On. For Filming. Rights Violations. Worcester Police Department. Mass.

This was on Wednesday August 11th 2021 at approximately 16:33, outside of the Worcester police department in Worcester Massachusetts. This department is known for getting triggered over cameras in public, around their police department especially. Press NH Now and myself decided to go there and film the perimeter and all public areas of the exterior of this department. Within 2 minutes a patrolman radioed into dispatch to inform them there were 2 people legally filming outside of one of their parking lot entrances. We ran into sergeant Dowd and had a good short conversation with him and he had no problem with the cameras.

About 30 seconds after that 1st interaction we ran into one of the biggest tyrants that I have ever met. He is a SWAT officer named sergeant Watkins who escalated the situation almost instantaneously and called for backup. About 3 minutes later we were surrounded by 12 or more officers trying to intimidate us from exercising our 1st amendment right in publicly accessible areas. They told us to leave the area or we wpuld be arrested for trespass and while we were leaving the area captain Ryder ordered an officer to identify me.

That officer walked in front of me and grabbed my body camera, then grabbed me by my elbow area. He also grabbed the strap to my backpack to take it off of me. As I continue to try to buy time and de-escalate the situation, Press NH Now was being forced off to property by lieutenant Girouard. The captain then realized Press NH Now was let go and told me to get out of their. I hope you all enjoy this interaction!!!
