Of course post-conditioning I did my toes to bar, 10x10 for 100 total in paired cluster sets before moving on to some light leg training.

These days I treat leg training like I treat pressing. I need to be stable and resilient for OTHER things besides just lifting so my days of trying to be a hero with raw weight are pretty much over. High risk, low ROI.

With that in mind I use rear foot elevated split squats as my main movement. I like these because it doesn’t take a lot of weight to get the job done, especially if you control the eccentric and cultivate the stretch.

The other great thing about split squats in their various incarnations is they transfer significantly to athletics. If you run, bike, play a field sport or do martial arts, you might want to include these somewhere in your program.

Lastly I did some seated calf raises to work both the gastrocs, the big calf muscle that supports the knee and the soleus, the muscle underneath the gastrocs that helps with ankle stability when the knee is bent.

That’s it. My daily ab work and 10 sets of legs. Last week I went a bit over my MRV with 45 sets and along with the travel, I paid for it with some pretty substandard conditioning sessions and a lot of lingering fatigue.
