DAY TWENTY || CAMINO DE SANTIAGO (2025)

This day was the most emotional and eventful for me on pilgrimage number eight.

Felt surreal…

It began with a sunrise view and walk from the village of Foncebadon to Cruz de Ferro in stunning scenery and epiphany-rich insights.

For the first time at the cross, I let a burden drop… and I’ve been here two times before.

Life got immediately lighter and more free. Maybe I will share about this in other videos.

The vibration shifted instantly as I began my long descent to Ponferrada.

The terrain has been extremely difficult on this Camino because of weather—today was a perilous one with focus on every step.

I saw the Peregrina in front of me fall and break her arm on this walk last time.

That’s why I took the road for the first half and encouraged all other pilgrims to do the same; save your feet and legs + possible injury.

One female pilgrim did follow me and we skated down that decline fast and easy.

Others had joint issues and many blisters and told me later they wish they followed.

The entire walk was a favorite for many pilgrims and the weather was divine!

As I made my last 3km into Ponferrada, I learned all the power had gone out in Spain, Portugal, France and Switzerland.

This set off my survival skills right away. We’ve been resource-deprived on this pilgrimage and many counted on the city of Ponferrada as a resupply location.

I ducked into a tiny shop before the heart of town and found out indeed—the power was out and people were confused and without answers. Instincts told me to buy supplies that could last without refrigeration.

Walking into my albergue kinda felt a bit “Zombie Apocalypse” early stages because the hosts had no clue or information, operating on former automation.

Everything was dark and I soon learned that all stores closed, ATM’s were not operational, no credit card transactions and even gas stations closed too.

Then all communications went down.

Weary pilgrims walked in with no food and very hungry.

There’s a lot to communicate about this day in Spain.

My leadership skills kicked in at high activation.

Pardon the subtle end of my video… we all had to save our phone batteries and figure out what was happening.

Buen Camino
