James Gunn Calls Out Hollywood Studios Ahead of Superman’s Release

James Gunn calls out Hollywood studios for their tendency to complete or change up the script after the movie is well into production.

Since taking over as co-head of DC at Warner Bros. James Gunn said he will never begin production on a film unless they have a complete script. One problem that has plagued Marvel in recent years is how they will completely change up the script well into, or in some cases after, principal photography. This results in a movie that feels as if it’s thrown together. Not to mention it balloons the film’s budget. Gunn doesn’t want to fall into the mess Marvel did by mandating a particular number of movies each year. This seems to be something Disney is aware of when it comes to Marvel movies and Disney CEO Bob Iger has said they will shift focus to quality over quantity.
