Every year this question is asked thousands of times by people headed to the Philmont Scout Ranch outside of Cimarron, New Mexico for an adventure of a lifetime. I attempt to lay our the foundations for building a great setup to help you have a wonderful time. This is not a perfect list. This is an effort to share some things that I have learned over the years backpacking all over the country and from my previous visit to Philmont.
