Cactus Copper Project Advances as Arizona Sonoran Launches Financing Before PFS Release

As Washington ramps up pressure for domestic copper supply, Arizona Sonoran Copper Company is fast-tracking its Cactus Project in Arizona to deliver homegrown copper cathode—and CEO George Ogilvie says the tailwinds couldn’t be stronger.

In this exclusive interview with Kitco Mining, Ogilvie outlines how federal backing for U.S. cathode production is putting a "tremendous amount of wind in our sails" as the company prepares to present its pre-feasibility study (PFS) to the board this month. The project, located on private land with water, infrastructure, and permits already in place, is designed around heap leach and SX-EW technology to produce clean copper cathode right on American soil.

With the COMEX–LME arbitrage fading, Arizona Sonoran is anchoring its plans on long-term LME pricing, reinforcing the financial prudence behind the development. Project financing is advancing with Hannam & Partners, and a data room opens in October to approximately a dozen NDA-signed groups.
