France Debates Women-Only Train Cars After Viral Assault Video

Following a viral video of an attempted rape of a Brazilian woman visiting France, left-wing politicians are now proposing women-only train cars as a safety measure.

Critics, however, say the idea fails to address the root problem. Astrid Mae, spokeswoman for the feminist group Collectif Némésis, called it a “band-aid solution for a gaping social wound.”

She points to statistics showing that 62% of sexual assaults on public transport in Île-de-France are committed by foreigners, arguing that segregation is not the answer:

“Are we going to put a policeman behind every woman? Create women-only parks? Veil all women to prevent attacks? It’s absurd.”

This video explores the controversy, the political responses, and the growing debate about safety, immigration, and women’s rights in France.
