Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit. In this video I’m reacting to a heated online moment: NyaraVT’s reaction to the news that Girlguiding has officially banned trans girls from joining as of December 2025 — and how J.K. Rowling publicly ratio’d him, answering his “who does this help?” with the simple truth: “girls.”

I break down why I agree with the decision, why Nyara’s reaction was tone-deaf (and hypocritical), and why protecting women-only spaces matters.

Here’s what I cover:

What changed at Girlguiding: As of December 2, 2025, the organisation updated its equality and diversity policy: from now on, new members must be biologically female at birth. Trans girls (i.e. males who identify female) will no longer be allowed to join as new youth members.

Why the change matters: Girlguiding leadership argued the decision was necessary following legal advice and a recent Supreme Court ruling clarifying the legal definition of “girl” and “woman” under the law.

What NyaraVT said — and why I think it was wrong: His reaction (“Serious question, who does this help?”) misses the point: Girlguiding exists to provide a safe, single-sex space for biological girls, with privacy and protections that can be compromised when biological males are admitted. I debate why his stance ignores those realities.

Why I support the ban and the “girls-first” framework: I believe there are legitimate reasons — safety, privacy, fairness — for women-only and girls-only organizations. When policies shift to identity-based inclusion without regard for sex-based protections, you risk undermining the original purpose of those spaces.

On backlash & cancel culture: I expect critics will call this transphobia or exclusion — but I argue that defending single-sex spaces isn’t hate — it’s about reasonable boundaries and safeguarding rights for those spaces’ intended members.
