Assisted Dying In Victoria.

Voluntary Assisted Dying or Medical Aid in Dying are acceptable in many countries such as Australia. Years ago, the term Euthanasia attracted great controversy, attracting the ire of churches and conservatives but today such laws and amendments pass with hardly a mention.

Is it because Voluntary Dying is popular or is it that our politicians have leaned how to pass such legislation with the assistance of powerful and well funded organisations and church leaders are now woke and silent. UK Assisted Dying Bill sailed through the House of Commons with Labour's support as a private members bill

Lets look at some definitions before we talk to our guest about some of his concerns

Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) in Australia, means an eligible person with a terminal or advanced, incurable condition can request medical help to end their life, usually by taking prescribed medication, to relieve unbearable suffering when no other acceptable relief is possible. This definition emphasises the person's own voluntary, informed choice at a chosen time.

VAD or MAID differs from euthanasia in that terminally ill patients administer the fatal drug themselves; in euthanasia, a healthcare provider administers the fatal dose.
