Goodness And Mercy Shall Follow
(The Shepherd that Christ Is)

Text: Psalms 23

Objective: that the brethren may follow the Lords leading and profit well from all that He can and will provide.

Intro:
Define: good/ness, mercy, follow, shepherd, sheep, providence, leading/leadership

How is goodness and mercy assured unto us?
1. The Lord is God and therefore able to provide the best in all things - v.1
a. ‘’I shall not want” – nothing can be lacking if the Lord is your provider
2. The Lord Leads us to the best of Places – v.2
a. Wherein we can be blessed to the most! – ‘green’, ‘still’
3. The Lord being the most Righteous of All provides the best condition for our soul – v.3a
a. ‘restore’ – after whatever previous damage
b. Notice how damaging to anybody sin is.
4. The Lord’s name is at stake – v.3b
a. We know that ultimately the Lord wins and will be glorified – Rev. 4:4
5. The Lord can and will protect His children – v.4
a. ‘rod and staff’ – defence against possible aggressor/s.
6. The Lord exalts us against our enemies – v.5
a. ‘in the presence of mine enemies’
7. The Lord will have us ultimately with Him in heaven – v.6
a. ‘house of the Lord forever’
Message/conclusion:
Let us follow the Lords leading and profit well from all that He can and will provide.
Trust the Lord Jesus as He is the Good, Great and Grand/Chief Shepherd
